The Modified Stableford system of scoring is a variation of Stableford points scoring that introduces a bonus for under-par play. The player’s score at each hole is determined, gross or net, and points awarded based on that score compared to a target score of par:
A player’s competition score is the sum of their points awarded at each hole. The player with the most points is the winner. There is usually no difference in computing handicap allowances in Stableford play vs. medal play. And, adjustments for mixed competition or play from different tees (which might have different pars) are usually similar.
