Clubs and Players Folders
The normal installation process creates a folder containing the application, its Apple Guide files, and two folders called "Clubs" and "Players". It is suggested that you always save your new player documents in the Players folder and your new club documents in the Clubs folder, although it's not required. If you do, however, Golf Personal will always look for player and club documents there first at startup and it will always steer you to the appropriate folder automatically whenever you're saving a new club or player document.
Hiding Clubs and Players
Put Club or Player documents (or Handicapping Plugins) in a folder with a parenthesized name - like "(Hidden Stuff)" - and Golf Personal won't automatically search that folder at startup. You can still use a file in that folder directly, however, from the application.
PowerBooks
Most of our PowerBook users, at least those who have PowerBooks with the foreshortened 640x400 pixel display, find the toolbar more convenient when placed at the left edge of the screen. Select the "Left" Toolbar Style from the Window menu.
The Players Palette
Just about the most useful little window around - even when you're keeping records for just one player. Open it by choosing Show Players from the Window menu - or entering option-command-P from your keyboard. Drag it over to some distant corner of your screen (bottom right is nice). Leave it there. Golf Personal will reopen it automatically at startup just where you left it. With this little window, you can:
- double-click and open the player's data (document) window, which lists the player's rounds.
- option-double-click and open a new empty scorecard with the player on it and their preferred course pre-selected.
- delete a player by dragging from the palette to the trash.
- add a player to a Scorecard, Team card or Match card by dragging from the palette to the card.
- make a player your "favorite", to be opened automatically at startup, by dragging from the palette to the Preferences dialog window.
- even fill up an untitled player window by dragging from the palette to the window.
