Player Handicapping

Decide if you are going to compute and track 9-hole or 18-hole handicaps for the player and click on the appropriate button in the Handicapping section. Indicate whether the player is a male or a female - it matters when computing handicaps.

Handicapping Method Selector

From the Handicapping popup selector, choose the method you want to use to track the player's handicap. If you don't need to track a handicap, just choose the "none" item. Some of the items in the selector may be dim and unavailable to you. That's because those methods aren't compatible with the type (9 or 18-hole) of handicap you have selected, or they're only used for men's or women's handicaps. The handicapping methods available to you in the popup selector depend on which handicapping plug-ins you have installed. See Chapter 2 - About Golf Handicapping for information about plug-ins and handicapping methods. The Mulligan Handicapping method is always available, for 9-hole or 18-hole handicaps.

Note: Licensing arrangements with some golf organizations may restrict the use of their handicapping methods for personal use to a limited number of players. You will not be able to select those methods when you have reached that limit.

When you select some handicapping methods, you may be shown a dialog window like this:

Handicap Authorization Dialog

You may be asked for (and in some cases, required to provide) a player's home club, an identification number used for handicapping, a beginning handicap or other information. The licensing arrangements between Mulligan Software and some of the golf handicapping authorities may require that you see, read and acknowledge disclaimers about using the software to generate a handicap and other matters. You may be required to provide information precisely as provided to you by your golf club or association before you can use certain features of the software. When you have answered each of the questions, click the OK button to use the handicapping method for the player.
