Dim Reports Menu
Q. I've entered rounds for my players but the statistical reports items in the Reports menu are dim. How do I produce those reports?
A. Statistical reports are player-specific, so just open a window for the player you're interested in. The items in the Reports menu will be available, and the reports will apply to the player in the frontmost window. Open a player document window by
- choosing Open from the File menu, then selecting a Player document.
- clicking the "Open" button on the toolbar, then selecting a Player document.
- double-clicking the Player document from the Finder.
- double-clicking the player's name in the Players palette.
- double-clicking the little player icon next to the player's name on an open Scorecard.
Handicapping Reports
Q. My Reports menu seems to be OK, but I can't produce a Handicapping Report for a Player - that item in the Reports menu is dim.
A. You haven't selected any handicapping method for that player. Expand the top section of the Player document window, then select the type of handicapping to be used for this player.
Hole Handicaps
Q. Golf Personal seems to require that all the odd hole handicaps be on one nine and all the even hole handicaps be on the other. Is this true?
A. Yes, if you have the "Enforce Even/Odd Hole Handicaps" option set in Preferences, all the even-handicapped holes (on an 18-hole course) must be on one side, all the odd-handicapped holes on the other. This is the recommended convention in the United States - where the USGA further suggests that the odd-handicapped holes be on the front side. The recommendation means that in a handicap match between two players whose handicaps differ by one stroke, that stroke will be given in the first 9 holes - ensuring that the higher handicapped player gets their stroke even in a 9-hole match (or a match that only goes 10 holes!) In some places, notably Australia, this restriction does not apply and any hole can have any handicap from 1 through 18. If you want Golf Personal to ignore this restriction, uncheck the "Enforce Even/Odd Hole Handicaps" setting in Preferences.
Demo Serial Number
Q. What's the serial number when registering a demonstration copy of Mulligan's Golf Personal?
A. To enable a demonstration copy of Mulligan's Golf Personal, register it with your name and the serial number DEMO.
Why Not for Windows?
Q. Why has Mulligan's Golf Personal been developed for the Mac? Why not for Windows?
A. Well... because a Macintosh is a better machine - more reliable, faster, prettier. easier to use and just more fun. There are things Mulligan's Golf Personal can do with the Mac OS that just can't be done with that other system. Plus, (like you care!) developing software on the Macintosh is faster, cleaner, better and also more fun. We feel your pain. Right now we're too busy "golfing different".
P.S. Consider making your next computer a Mac. You can still run Windows applications on it whenever there's a need... we do.
Intel Macs and Classic Mode
Q. Does Mulligan's Golf Personal run on the MacBook Pro and other Intel-based Macs?
A. No it doesn't. It is, when running under OS X (all versions), a "Classic" application and it requires Classic mode to operate. OS X does not support Classic mode on Intel processors, so Mulligan's Golf Personal is incompatible with those Macs.
