The Use & Publish Data master switch controls whether remote data features are enabled.

Tap iCloud or Dropbox to indicate how remote data is shared.

 

 

 

If you select iCloud…

iCloud connection status is displayed with a list of the scoring data files (of all types) currently available from iCloud.

You can review or delete files shown in the list.

Deleting a file from iCloud storage permanently deletes that file from all the devices that share the iCloud account.

 

If you select Dropbox…

You must be “linked” to a Dropbox account from your device. If you don't have an account, the Link process will help you get one.

You can review or delete files shown in the list.

Deleting a file from Dropbox deletes that file from all the devices that share the same Dropbox account.

 

Making a Scorecard
from Remote Data

When remote data features are available, the Scorecards list includes a Download control:

The scoring data files listed can be used to make a scorecard on your device.

 

The Scoring Machine will read the contents of the selected file and ask:

Tap Yes to create the scorecard and allow changing its contents.

Tap No, keep locked to keep the scorecard for review, but lock it to prohibit changes.

Be sure to Save the scorecard information to make this remote data permanent on your device.

 

Making an Event
from Remote Data

When remote data features are available, the Events list includes a Download control:

The Scoring Machine will read the contents of the selected file and ask:

Tap Yes to create the event and allow changing its contents.

Tap No, keep locked to keep the event for review, but lock it to prohibit changes.

Be sure to Save the event information to make this remote data permanent on your device.

Note: If you elect to create the event but keep it locked, you can unlock individual scorecards later from the scoreboard.

 

Locked Scorecards and Events

You may want to monitor data from other devices without modifying it. When you install a scorecard or event from remote data that you don't plan to change, you should keep it locked.

In the Scorecards and Events lists, locked items are identified with a small lock icon:

 

When you try to edit a locked scorecard or event, you can request that the item be unlocked for editing or scoring. Once unlocked, an item remains unlocked.

Individual scorecards within a locked event may be unlocked for scorekeeping by tapping the scorecard's lock icon on the scoreboard.

Note: Keeping an item locked does not assure it won't be changed - which might happen when data from another device arrives with changes. The Scoring Machine doesn't prevent you or others from making and publishing remote data.

 

Publishing from Mulligan's Eagle™

Mulligan's Eagle™ is the popular stats, scoring and handicapping application from Mulligan Software for macOS on your Mac.

If you use Eagle to organize and schedule a golf league, tournaments or just general play, you can publish a scoring data file called a Session List that represents all the information about that event.

With the window for the event frontmost, choose Publish Session List… from the Reports menu.

Publishing a Session List in Mulligan's Eagle™

Click Publish to Dropbox to publish a data file into a special folder where devices using the same Dropbox account can find it.

If your copy of Mulligan's Eagle was purchased from the Mac App Store, click Publish to iCloud to make the data file available for use by apps on devices sharing the same Apple ID.

This means, for Eagle users, that they can configure their event well in advance, publish a Session List for it, use the contents of that data file to reconstruct the event on their remote devices (including automatic setup of the course and the contestants if necessary), then use that data for scoring.

Publishing from The Scoring Machine

When Remote Data features are available, events originally created with The Scoring Machine can be published too.

When your event is completely configured, including the proper course, players, teams and style of play, a publication option is available when editing the event:

Tap Publish to insert a data file for your event into Dropbox or iCloud where apps sharing the same account number can find it.

Other copies of The Scoring Machine or desktop installations of Mulligan's Eagle™ sharing the Dropbox or iCloud account can retrieve and use the published data.
